yes the ceremony was expensive and that’s way there is a collective ceremony, some people were saving money for years to be able to attend. But is not something we feel burden into , it’s just something that we had to do for our loved one and ourselves .
And yes it was a festive occasion , no sadness or black clothes were allowed ..

Thanks for sharing. I didn’t know about these ceremonies. On the one hand I seems to be a wonderful event – people being really concerned about the well-being of those who passed away. And, seeing your photos it is an almost festive colourful occasion as well.

However these expensive ceremonies may well be a huge handicap to gradually improve the socio-economical well-being of those who have been left behind also. Alas.

That indeed is a lot of injustice for one day. Now cases of injustice happen everyday all over the world. Dramatic mistakes will always be made because justice is man made. But unfortunately Indonesia’s justice system still suffers from some serious systemic flaws on top of that.

The good news is it seems to me the country has already come a long way. Yet the bad news is I’m afraid it still has to go a much longer way before there will be a state of law to be proud of.
